With school right around the corner, that means it’s almost time for JES basketball! We are 2️⃣2️⃣ days away from the opening tip off. Our student athletes are excited about the opportunity to get to compete against the entire county for this upcoming season. Mark your calendars 🗓️ and plan to cheer 📣 on your Lady Devils and Blue Devils! Go Big Blue! 🔵⚪️

Announcement:

Lady Devils Head Coach Adrienne Ferguson has stepped down from her position. This is bittersweet news for all of us here at JMS. Coach Ferguson has been part of our Lady Devils’ coaching staff since 2019, where she served as an assistant coach. In 2020, she became the head coach of our girls’ elementary team. During her time, she led our JES team to two county championships in 2020 and in 2022. In 2023, she became the head coach of our middle school Lady Devils. In that time span, she elevated the program year after year. She won over 75 games across her coaching career here at Jellico Elementary and Middle School and helped capture our school’s first district championship during the 2025-2026 season and advancing our girls to the region tournament.

The decision to step down came after serious thoughts and prayers, Mrs. Ferguson is looking to advance her career within the medical field and is wanting to spend more time with her family, particularly her four sons. She looks back on her time with tremendous pride and joy, making life lasting memories and fostering meaningful relationships with all of her players. She will miss the every day opportunities to lead and help develop the young student athletes here at JES. Being a mother of four sons, her players were like borrowed daughters in her eyes. While she will no longer be standing on the sideline, she looks forward to cheering on our Blue Devils and Lady Devils from the stands. She will also still be a part of our student athletes’ daily lives within the school while serving as the school nurse!

She stated that she would potentially come back into coaching if she felt led to do so. She wants to thank all of the past and present school administrators, faculty, players, parents, and fans. Most importantly she also wants to thank God and her family for the opportunity and consistent support she received during her tenure.

She looks forward to the continued success of our program and knows that our new head coach Valorie Marlow will continue to build on the foundation they have laid over the past several seasons!

Please help congratulate and thank Coach Ferguson on a fantastic career and well wishes in her future endeavors. She will always be a Jellico Blue Devil! 💙

The Jellico Middle girls basketball team defeated LaFollette 26-15 in a scrimmage at Jellico Elementary on Saturday.

Our first annual Jellico Middle Summer Basketball Camp is in the books! It was a great day, filled with competition and action. Our girls’ team was able to secure three wins throughout the day, while our boys’ team got crucial experience against some great KY teams. We want to thank all of those that came and supported, volunteered, and worked throughout the day to ensure the success of our camp. We were able to raise a good amount of money to support our JMS boys team for the upcoming season! Now, it’s time to rest and take a few weeks off for the dead period. ☀️🏀
