The class of 1979 wished to send condolences to our classmate Timmy Arant and his sister, Kem (1978) in the loss of their mother early this morning near Houston, Tx. Mrs. Rozel Arant was an amazing English and Literature teacher and a funny, silly “wild and crazy gal” to all of us who knew and loved her. Our family friendship goes back many years before Timmy and I were even imagined! Family vacations and unforgettable stories will keep her alive in our hearts. RIP Rozel. Your knowledge, athleticism, quick wit and humor is missed but will always be cherished. Keep Timmy and Kem in your thoughts and prayer during this difficult time

Last weekend Denis Baker and I went to Jim Harkness’ Lake House to fulfill a final obligation I felt to him. Denis helped me wintered our boat last weekend and I am indeed grateful to him for teaching me what he had already showed Jim how to do. The weekend Jim didn’t make it home was when he and I were going to do it. Today I checked into Little Buffalo Terrace’s Dogwood Studio, the room my beloved classmate stayed in on his fateful trip to Jasper, AR in September. The Chief Deputy on the Newton County Sheriff’s Office is picking me up tomorrow morning and we are going to the NCSO to talk over the accident and then he is taking me to the site where I will place this granite marker. Tomorrow will be a difficult day but I hope it will bring some closure. Jim and I had always been good and close friends but our path was quickly becoming more involved. His exit from this life has really devastated me and many others. The little frog on the milk can was sitting outside the door of my room when I got here. Jim’s Combat Veteran’s Morocycle Association nickname was “Frogsticker“. It was almost like Jim was waiting for me to get here…

With incredible pain in my heart I must tell you that we have lost our dear, sweet Jimmy Will Harkness to a motorcycle crash in Arkansas a couple of days ago. His service will be at Golden Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 18 at 2pm with visitation prior to the service from noon until 2pm. As many of you recall, Jim lost his wife Jan in 2020. He is now reunited with her and his parents. I spent every weekend this summer with Jim and I can honestly say he was as happy as I had seen him in a long time and was excited about the future and living on Lake D'Arbonne where many of us spent our 1979 Senior Day Trip. Please be in prayer or send good thougnts to his family as they were blindsided by this news. He is survived by his son Blake and wife Magan and 2 grandaughters and his brother Tim and wife, Debbie.

Got this word in a text from classmate Timmy Arant today:

Hello fellow Spartan alumni, family, and friends. It's with a heavy heart I share this news of the passing of Charles David Sisk sometime late Monday or early Tuesday. I learned of this news earlier today, and got approval to share the breaking news with everyone. For those of you who didn't know him, Charles David was in the class of 1980, and was popular and liked by everyone. He was very active in all aspects of PVA, especially sports, and would do anything for anyone. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers. Funeral arrangements and Information should be forthcoming. God Speed, Charles David!
