Building stronger communities from the ground up! 🏗️🛣️

Our Craftsman with Character partner highlights continue! Today, we’re spotlighting Rock Road Companies for giving our students an inside look at infrastructure and heavy construction work across Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.

During their rotation, students got real-world exposure to key industry operations like asphalt paving, site excavation and land grading, utility construction, aggregate sales, and general contracting. The pictures show students getting hands-on in creating test plugs using various asphalt formulas.

A big thank you to Rock Road Companies, Inc. for hosting our students, sharing their expertise, and supporting hands-on career exploration! 🛠️

Students from Parker High School - Janesville, WI and Joseph A. Craig High School participating in the Aspiring Education Academy—housed at Roosevelt Elementary School —recently stepped into mentorship roles by working one-on-one with 3rd graders on their writing assignments! 📝✨

A special shoutout to Katelyn H. and Madysin B., who finished decorating our classroom workspace to ensure it's welcoming and ready to host Roosevelt students in the upcoming weeks! 🎨🏫

It's inspiring to see our high schoolers gaining real-world experience while helping the next generation grow. Great job, future educators! 🌟

Our Craftsman with Character students have been hard at work in their business rotations, getting hands-on experience and exploring exciting local career opportunities in manufacturing and the skilled trades. Over the coming weeks, we’re thrilled to highlight some of our dedicated site partners who host our students for this incredible learning journey!

First up: Cotta, LLC! 🚜🔧

Cotta LLC specializes in manufacturing high-performance, heavy-duty transmissions and gearboxes for mining, heavy-duty vehicles, and construction equipment. Thanks to their incredible team, our students got an inside look at precision engineering and engaged in a variety of real-world learning tasks.

SCWBA Young Professionals team members Alex Held, Dick King, and Meghan Werner stopped by the SCWBA Student Build today to get the lay of the land in preparation for next week's podcast interviews and filming dates.

This year's home build project is led by Sockness Builders, Inc., under the instruction of School District of Janesville, WI long time educator, Joe Kruser, and is overseen and funded by South Central Wisconsin Builders Association.

Next up is Kaiden, who is gaining hands-on restaurant experience while practicing vital kitchen safety and sanitation skills at a local restaurant. Putting essential FCS standards into practice in a fast-paced environment is what work-based learning is all about! 🍳✨
