HRV is not a number to chase. It is a trend to watch.
I have been tracking heart rate variability (HRV) for years, and these race cycles show why it matters. Different races, different training blocks, same discipline: check the trend, then decide.
When HRV stays within my normal range, my body is responding well to the training. When it drops and stays low, that is a signal worth respecting, whether that means backing off a workout, adding a rest day, or just paying closer attention.
HRV does not tell me what to do. It tells me how much attention the situation deserves. That is exactly how I use it.
