Ron Snelling KM4RLS passed away October 31st. Ron was a long-time member of Duval County ARES and a motivated member of the group. He would always take on whatever job was available. Ron will be missed, but he leaves behind a lot of good memories and friendships.
As of now we don't have any information regarding celebration of life or funeral arrangements. Unfortunately, Ron's wife and children have previously passed away.

James Cortez Obituary - Jacksonville, FL 09/04/2025

Long time ARES & WWD member Jim Cortez KM4JQK passed away August 23rd in the hospital. Please see the family message and obituary below from his son, David Cortez.

This is a family update.

It has been a rough week since the evening of August 23rd. We had checked my father into the E.R. during the visit we were told the best course of action was to have surgery that evening to improve his quality of life.

Unfortunately he passed during the surgery. My sister, my mother, and some of our other family members have been working to process this all since Saturday.

We are having a service for him Saturday September 6th at 11am at Oak Lawn Cemetery located at 4801 San Jose Boulevard. Dress is business casual. Amateur Radio is a large part of our lives as it was for Jim's. Please let us show our support to Jim and his family.

If you felt close to him or had a quirky story to tell at his celebration of life.

James Cortez Obituary - Jacksonville, FL Celebrate the life of James Cortez, leave a kind word or memory and get funeral service information care of Hardage-Giddens Oaklawn Chapel.
