A draft of highly divisive and controversial Social Studies standards have been approved by the Commissioner of Education. Public comment closes October 25th at 4:30pm. The good news is that enough people have requested a public hearing to take these standards before a judge to address concerns over the standards. Rest assured, should these standards become final, your local school board has the final say in the curriculum and instructional materials used to meet these standards. I will remain committed to making sure my efforts are rooted in representing the American values we all know and love in our community. In the meantime, give the below information a look, stay informed on what the MDE wants taught in our schools, and make your voices heard.
