🌟 TCSD CHILD NUTRITION MANAGER OF THE MONTH 🌟

Please join us in congratulating Amanda Carter, Child Nutrition Manager at Iuka Elementary School, our Manager of the Month!

If you have ever walked into the Iuka Elementary cafeteria, you already know Amanda believes the cafeteria should be more than just a place for students to eat; it should be fun, welcoming, and made especially for them! ❤️

🌟 TCSD CHILD NUTRITION EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH 🌟

Please join us in congratulating Alvena Vernoy of Burnsville School, our Child Nutrition Employee of the Month! 🎉👏

Alvena is the kind of employee every team hopes to have. She is dependable, reliable, hardworking, and always willing to help wherever she is needed. She comes to work each day ready to work and willing to take on any job put in front of her.

One of Alvena's greatest qualities is the kindness she shows our students. She loves interacting with them, making them smile, and sharing a laugh. She follows the rules, works well with others, and brings a positive attitude to the cafeteria each day.

And when Burnsville has a fun dress-up day, Alvena is the go-to person for ideas and fun! 🎭✨

Alvena's dedication, teamwork, dependability, and genuine care for our students are exactly what our Employee of the Month recognition is all about.

Congratulations, Alvena! Thank you for the difference you make at Burnsville School and for being such an important part of our TCSD Child Nutrition family. We are so proud to recognize you!

One of the most common questions we receive is: “Why did my child’s meal status change from free or reduced to paid in September?”

The answer is:
A new application was not submitted for the new school year.

Meal applications are only valid for the school year in which they are completed.

Each new school year begins with a 30-day grace period where your child receives the same meal status they had the previous year. However, once that grace period ends, if a new application has not been submitted, we are required to change your child’s status to paid.

Don’t forget to submit a meal application for School Year 2026–2027!

If you completed an application between 7/1/25 and 6/30/26, that was for School Year 2025–2026 — not the upcoming school year.

To avoid your child being charged for meals, be sure to apply for the new year before the grace period ends in September.
