When the first issue of Práctica was published and went out into the world a lot of folk would say, "It looks beautiful...who designed the cover?!", and I would immediately say, "there's meaning behind that cover!".
I first came across Ruben Aguirre's work in my neighborhood of Pilsen in Chicago, at Simone's Bar. The entire side of the building was beautifully rendered with organic forms, texture, and amazingly rich colors. Not only was he creating a new sense of place but a new freshness, a breath of fresh air, which is what I saw, and I wanted to bring from the South Side of Chicago to Práctica.
