CUMEP

Thanks to everyone who came out in the rain and supported our CUMEPers as they showed off all they've been learning this summer. We had a packed house and we could feel the positive vibes from the audience! It was an amazing night and we can't wait to do it again soon!!

Day 16 ~
Connection. What drives your connections with those around you? What makes a connection powerful? How do strong connections make you feel?

The rain kept us inside on our last day of camp, but we loved seeing the bonds and friendships in action that have formed through the 16 days of CUMEP 2025. Thanks again to our amazing students in the who we know will make amazing teachers. We can't wait to see you in the classroom!

T-2 hours to show time! See you soon at Southside Community Center for our 2025 summer community performance! We'll likely be inside on the stage in Southside's gymnasium. The show starts promptly at 5pm!

Thank you to CUMEP sponsor for your incredible support this summer! We've loved your delicious and healthy cookies as a snack many days this summer. We also appreciate all the art supplies, gymnastics mats, teaching materials and more you've generously donated to us. We definitely couldn't have done everything we did this summer without you!

Day 15 ~
We can't believe there's ONLY ONE more day of CUMEP for summer 2025! As we reflect on our season and prepare for our show, we ask:
~ What will you take away from CUMEP this year?
~ What's something new you'll create in your life inspired by CUMEP?
~ How will you keep the lessons of CUMEP alive in your home, school, community & elsewhere for the rest of summer and far beyond?

We've created so much art, music, dance and love this summer! We'll definitely be using these memories to keep the CUMEP spirit alive!

See you TOMORROW at our 22nd annual summer community performance. The event happens rain or shine! We just might have to be creative with our space. Can't no rain!! We'll be at Southside Community Center in Ithaca no matter what, 5pm on July 31st!

Thank you & .r.thomas for your consistent support of our mission! We love creating magic with you and introducing CUMEPers to the world of murals. Thanks for letting us help refresh the Harriet Tubman/Frederick Douglass piece on Green Street. We are all learning so much from this experience!

Day 14 ~
We love our colorful mornings at CUMEP! What's your favorite color? How does it make you feel when you wear it?

We are soo excited to be getting ready for our show on Thursday. It's in just TWO DAYS!! We hope you will join us as we share all the important lessons we've been learning all summer! See you in front of Southside Community Center at 5pm on the 31st!

Thank you to the & for being an incredible partner with CUMEP for so many years. We love having IC students hone their skills as future educators with us each Summer. We are grateful for the collaboration.

Day 13 ~
We love learning from & teaching each other here at CUMEP! It doesn't matter how big or small you are, EVERYONE can be a teacher!

Come learn from all of us on Thursday, July 31st at 5pm. We'll be in front of on Plain St. in Ithaca with valuable lessons for all. Don't miss it!

Before our grand community performance on July 31st, we hope you will join us at the community celebration of the life of Miss Lucy Brown. Miss Lucy was an amazing woman who loved CUMEP and visited us often. She is most known for founding which fights housing discrimination in our own backyard.

See you at our final community performance, July 31st at 5pm. We'll be out on the street in front of Southside!

Many thanks to .jamesamezion church and pastor for letting us use their space. Our CUMEPers love having our gymnastics and instrument lessons in your beautiful space. We can feel the history as we learn!

Day 12 ~
Community. Who's in your community? Who do you rely on when you need help with something? How do you show love to those in your community?

Our whole camp mornings at CUMEP emphasize the importance of community and being there for each other. We cheer our friends when they have the confidence to take the mic in front of everyone. We remind each other about our code of conduct and different ways to be kind and show love. Wouldn't you love to wake up every morning and feel love like this??

Thanks to and for giving us space and resources to record the thoughts of our teen CUMEPers. Your generosity is allowing them to unpack the lessons of CUMEP as they relate to personal struggles and triumphs. Day 11 ~
What's your favorite style of art? How many murals have you seen around Ithaca? Do you have a favorite? Where would you add a mural of your own in our city?

Every day at CUMEP, we love expressing our feelings safely. Fun ways to do this include drawing, painting, coloring & other visual art techniques. We've been making our own colorful sleep masks and creating 3D nature collages. Art majors are even getting to help refresh the Harriet Tubman/Frederick Douglass mural on Green Street! Take a look as you drive by!
