About the speaker:
Sir Hilary Beckles, vice-chancellor of the University of the West Indies and chairman of the Caribbean Community [CARICOM] Commission on Reparation and Social Justice, is a renown global leader in higher education and an important voice in high-level international discussions on the subject of reparations from slavery.
He is also a director of SAGICOR Financial Corporation PLC, the largest financial company in the Caribbean region; President of Universities Caribbean; an editor of the UNESCO General History of Africa series; and a Director of the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre.
In December 2024, Sir Hilary was appointed Chairman/Chancellor of the United Nations University, a “global think tank and postgraduate teaching organization” headquartered in Tokyo with 13 institutes spread over 12 countries.
As a historian with a publication record spanning more than three decades, over the course of which he has published more than 20 books, Sir Hilary is well known for his work on slavery and the slave trade, colonialism, reparations, democracy, telecommunications, higher education, cricket, and Rihanna.
Sir Hilary visits as an A.D. White Professor-at-Large March 24-28, 2025.

Found an actual "Blue Book" when packing up McGraw Hall. Does anyone know the story behind why the color changed....both the "blue books" and the now "exam books" are exactly the same, just different colors.
