Ben & Jerry’s has been through so much as a company, yet the founder Ben tried his best, and with the help of his colleagues, built safeguards to keep it for the people, even after losing control. 🍦

Listen in to hear some of the safeguards that Ben had put in! Watch part 1 of this video to see what happened after Magnum came into play. Comment down below the ice cream brands owned by magnum that you have to boycott! (P.S.- its not Ben & Jerry’s)

URGENT MUTUAL AID REQUEST!!!

After a week of entrenching myself in learning the history of violence against Black folks, it’s only right that we do something NOW to help my community. My friend Ivory has faced countless battles living down south as a q***r Black woman, and she needs our help!! Share this far and wide. At the end of the day, I really just want her to be okay and to be able to live a peaceful life in a space that is hers. Even if you only have $5 to give, that is enough. Every bit helps.

Let’s get Ivory home.

Day two of our trip with It takes a whole village. DCI and our friend from Ben & Jerry’s Foundation

We went to the Legacy Museum. The Legacy Sites I did this trip before as an MLK Scholar at Ithaca College now i’m here again with kids younger than even I was at the time.

It is a must go for everyone who calls America home and those beyond, as it shows the harsh reality of our history. It details how our nation was built on the backs of kidnapped Africans, and how those waves reverberate out into every facet of our society.

One thing very important to me, is the distinction that Africans (and us as Black folks) are very intelligent, incredibly skilled, and driven people who deserve love and care. Africans have and had incredibly advanced societies, skills, trades, and communities, and they were sold off on auction blocks and splintered from their families then branded as less than. And guess what? We are living in the wake of that. We still struggle to trace our lineage and equality is still a goal to reach.

The wealth that has compounded in white families across the country and world was built using the enslaved labor of my people. We showed these kids that reality, and they were left speechless.

You don’t learn this in history books. I implore you, especially as a white person, contend with the trauma of your own history steeped in hate, and come out with love on the other side. That is how we will succeed.

From being the only Black person in my classes in rural Ohio to stepping into history in Montgomery, Alabama. I’m stepping into the memories of a movement. I’m going back to remember what happened, find examples of what we can do now, and what it takes to create real change. Gonna hit up the Rosa Parks Museum, Legacy Museum & more.

The rain was a paid actor, thank you.

But no cap, running a business focused on social good in this capitalist hellscape is SO hard.

It feels like I’m playing life on hard mode.

I pay my workers good wages, I try to source my ingredients responsibly like using Bob's Red Mill gf flour, I have recyclable packaging from GreenGear Supply Co. , I donate to struggling BIPOC & LGBTQ+ college students, and I speak up for those who are often forgotten. But don’t forget about me!! I’m human. I’m not a machine. Sure, I’m around, and always look so bright, but BOY can it be taxing.

At the end of the day, Im still human, and it’s all so hard. Buy Via’s Cookies not just because they’re good, but because you see what I put in to making my dreams come true. I put in my everything, every single time.

Support businesses run by real people who want good for the planet and the community. You can buy our cookies from anywhere in the US on our website (in bio), and locally at hella locations. Gluten free/vegan, and so good that all my homies without allergies eat them too.

Love, justice, and cookies for all. ♥️
