The Greenhouse Lighting and Systems Engineering (GLASE) consortium is a public-private institution working at the leading edge of LED systems engineering, plant photobiology and physiology, and greenhouse environmental controls. In this webinar, GLASE principal investigators will showcase a selection of the research, projects, and programs of GLASE.
Timothy Shelford from Rutgers University will compare and contrast the spectral output and performance of different types of horticultural lighting fixtures from different manufacturers with a focus on efficacy and the new ePAR range. Elsebeth Kolmos from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute will discuss the role of blue spectral quality in the growth and development of lettuce and tomato under sole source lighting. Neil Mattson from Cornell University will discuss how the light intensity of many commercial LEDs can be adjusted in real-time, presenting results from Cornell trials testing a dimmable LED lighting control strategy for greenhouse lettuce, strawberry, and tomato crops.

GLASE's April webinar is this Thursday at 2:00pm EST. Join Brian Harris (moderator), Tyler Baras, Jeffrey Orkin, and Bob Jones for a panel on small-scale CEA.
Smaller-scale commercial greenhouses and indoor farms present a unique opportunity in a growing CEA market. Listen to successful small-scale growers discuss the challenges and opportunities of owning and operating a small scale CEA facility in this round table conversation led by an expert in the field.

Register now for the 2023 Virtual Climate Control Short Course! For the fifth module of the course (February 16, 2023), we will be taking a look at Irrigation Control Systems.
Receiving the right amount of water is vital to the survival of all plants. In greenhouses and indoor farms, growers must provide water directly to crops, as rainwater is unavailable. Learn about different systems of greenhouse irrigation and how to control exactly how much water plants receive.

Register now for the 2023 Virtual Climate Control Short Course! For the fourth module of the course (February 9, 2023), we will be taking a look at CO2 Control Systems.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) is an essential component of plant photosynthesis. Increasing CO2 concentrations in a greenhouse improves fruit yield, flowering, and plant strength, but controlling CO2 can prove difficult in greenhouses that require venting. Learn about available technology to measure and control CO2 concentrations in your greenhouse.

Register now for the 2023 Virtual Climate Control Short Course! For the third module of the course (February 2, 2023), we will be taking a look at Humidity & VPD Control Systems.
Humidity is one of the most difficult aspects of a greenhouse climate to regulate. Temperature and air pressure, along with v***r pressure deficit (VPD) and plant transpiration, influence the humidity of the air. Plant diseases, stress, and growth rate all depend on humidity. Learn the intricacies of controlling this fluctuating measurement in your climate to better control plant growth and health.
