UCSB MUN is absolutely devastated by the police brutality and racial violence committed against the black community in the United States. We mourn alongside the UCSB community regarding the senseless murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Eric Garner, and countless others.

We also stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter Movement, and the current protests that work to bring light to the social injustices of our country.

We would like to offer support to any members of the UCSB community, as we understand these are monumental times of change for our society.

UCSB MUN acknowledges the significance of speaking out regarding Black Lives Matter, and encourages further action extending beyond social media.

Our University and our club will continue our commitment to equality for all. As Martin Luther King once said, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter”.

Last week, the team drove up to the state capitol to compete at UC Davis' AggieMUN! For many of our new members, this was their first conference and we couldn't be prouder of their achievements.

The team just returned a few days ago from traveling to Montreal, Quebec to compete at McGill University's McMUN! This was our team's first showing there as well as many of our members' first trip to Canada. Some of our highlights include trying poutine for the first time, getting to see snow fall (a rarity in SB), and meeting delegates from all over North America!

That's a wrap on SBIMUN X! Thank you to all the delegations that came out to UCSB to celebrate the tenth anniversary session of SBIMUN.

From proposing resolutions regarding the Uighur crisis in China to fierce debate on how to stop the Fire Nation to conducting a murder investigation on a boat, we had a blast hosting this conference and hope that all our delegates had as much fun as we did.

UCSB Model UN is excited to host our 11th anniversary session next year, which will be held at the Hyatt Centric in Downtown Santa Barbara on November 12-15, 2020! @ University of California, Santa Barbara
