Mrs. Whipple’s math class got hands-on as students worked on building prisms! Students used their problem-solving and spatial reasoning skills to construct and explore different prisms.

This engaging activity was inspired by GaDOE Inspire, giving our students the opportunity to take their math learning off the page and into their hands! ✨

We love seeing our students build, explore, and think like mathematicians! 💙📚

Sometimes students notice warning signs before adults do. Knowing what to look for can make a difference.

A concerning social media post. A threat. Bullying or harassment. Someone talking about hurting themselves or someone else. Or simply a situation that doesn’t feel right.

Through Sandy Hook Promise’s Say Something program, students learn three important steps: recognize the warning signs, take them seriously, and say something.

Speaking up isn’t about getting someone in trouble. It’s about getting someone help. 💛

A group of our smallest Warriors, Ms. Crockett's and Mrs. Jackson's Pre-K students, are enjoying recognizing differences and similarities. Their tiny perspectives on what makes them the same (similar) and what makes them different were impressive! Coincidentally, two students were wearing the same shirt!

In the back of the class, Snoop Froggy, their class pet, has a different kind of skin and eats differently from these boys and girls, which makes them different! But he does have two eyes and two legs!

At WCSD, the safety and well-being of our students remain at the heart of everything we do. We’re proud to announce a new partnership with Sandy Hook Promise as part of our continued commitment to fostering safe, welcoming, and supportive learning environments.

As part of this initiative, we will soon launch the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System across our schools. This program empowers students to recognize warning signs, speak up, and help create a culture where everyone looks out for one another.

Parents and guardians, please be on the lookout for a letter coming home with your student that will provide additional information about the program. As we begin implementation, our counselors and school administrators will also provide students with guided lessons to help them understand how the system works and when and how to use it. We appreciate your continued support in keeping our schools safe, welcoming, and supportive for every student.

Students in Mrs. Bray's 1st-grade class are competing to answer questions as they continue their work on sentence structure, vowel sounds, and the proper use of capital and lowercase letters.

Over in kindergarten, Mrs. Simmons' students are becoming experts in number recognition with tracing and writing, following 2-step verbal instructions, and an additional lesson on cheering for their peers! Eager smiles and raised hands equal a wonderful day of learning and participation!

Today, Ms. Amerson's 3rd graders worked hard to turn tangerines into mini globes! 🍊🌍

They illustrated the Equator, Prime Meridian, lines of latitude, and lines of longitude while learning how these lines help us locate places around the world and in the United States.

Learning Target: I am learning to find and describe the lines on a globe that help the U.S. locate places. This activity also supports following verbal, step-by-step directions. Hands-on learning makes geography come to life!

3rd-graders in Ms. Amerson's class are becoming expert travelers, day by day! Using the learning target of "I am learning to locate major U.S. rivers and mountain ranges", students work hard, showing what they learned in today's lesson.

Along with scissors, a little glue, and their technology, students completed physical maps with name banks to locate and label critical U.S. waterways, including the Mississippi, Ohio, Rio Grande, Colorado, Hudson, and St. Lawrence rivers. Great exploration, students!
