Southern Methodist University (SMU) is giving students the opportunity to experience world cinema with the 11th anniversary of the International Film Festival organized by the Department of World Languages and Literatures.
SMU is once again screening a German film, “Willkommen bei den Hartmanns” (2016), directed by Simon Verhoeven. The film is scheduled for March 3rd at 7:00 PM. A brilliant comedy that takes you on a rollercoaster. This film tells the story of an affluent German family, where each member has issues of their own. The arrival of a refugee turns their world upside down. The film received the German Film Award for Highest grossing Film of the Year in 2016 and received praise for its willingness to address Germany's ambivalent views on refugees, albeit through a humorous lens.
A reception will be held at 6 PM before the film screening.
