I woke up with such a heavy heart this morning. Unsure of how I would take on the day amid the unimaginable tragedy in . Reading messages from our school leaders that parole officers presence will be increased and all schools need to be on high alert had my anxiety through the roof. I walked into to school trying to keep it together and be strong to make it through a half day of school. My first graders walked through the hallways and entered my classroom as they always do with a big smile and a “Hi, Ms. Babb!” So young, so innocent, so sweet, so happy, and completely oblivious of the evil carnage that took place only a few hours away in a classroom and school like theirs. The emotions were overwhelming as I thought “This could’ve been us. How can I protect you? How can I keep you all safe?”. These thoughts became UNBEARABLE to even think about. And I lost it. Completely lost it. 😭
This is a another sad, sad time in America. This is our realty. Hear the pleas of more families that are completely ruined. Hear the pleas of teachers and school staff that continue to put their lives on the line to protect these children in schools that are supposed to keep them safe. Hear our pleas!!! Something has to give. These gun control laws need to change NOW. What more is it going to take???
