It’s the 6-7th day of school, so we had to celebrate!

Thank you for your wonderful donation to help our Explorers have healthy teeth for National Dental Hygiene month.

Opened our creative minds as we celebrated International Dot Day. Inspired by the Peter Reynolds book, we looked at perspective in our own work and opened up the possibilities of what we could create. The app helped us transform our 2D artwork into 3D masterpieces.

We talked about growth mindset in math. Our brain is like a muscle that learns with every try. Just like we can reach higher in jumping, we can gain math knowledge with every attempt. Question to ask your Explorer: “How did you see the seven dots?”

Our Explorers have been exploring. Exploring different locations to do work. Exploring different seats to help focus. Exploring new partners to learn from one another. Ask your Explorer was has or hasn’t worked for them.

Living in luxury on our short trip to the Children’s Water Festival

This is the best Butterfly Parent class ever! After feeding, caring, and naming our caterpillars, we currently have 18 flying butterflies! More may be on their way, but this is our biggest total yet so far! Some Explorers were lucky enough to see them fall from their chrysalis and spread their wings!

Celebrating our first APEX Remix, raising funds for literacy! Thank you to all who supported our Explorers through pledging, sharing, marking fitness moves, and more! Even though we are currently in second place (they may be a little bummed in the morning, as they left school in first), we had a great time and will be celebrating all of our fundraising milestones, filling up our pledge thermometer. Tomorrow starts with “Yes Day”

Today, we earned a “pieing” for having the most number of shares. The Explorers had a great time and did it all right before the rain. Future Leaders, Activate!

Today’s literary focus comes from recent Caldecott award winner, Big. It’s about a young girl who is lauded for being a big girl who’s growing…until she was no longer praised for being big. She was too big to be a flower in the play. Too big to fit in. We looked and contributed to how the word “big” changed to the girl throughout the story.

Learning about online safety and investigating how to determine if something on the internet is real or fake. We had some good discussions on what clues might point to a potential scam or fake information.
