🌙 SCENARIO TIME 🚨

It’s 9:45 PM in late November. Air temperature is 31°F, with water temperatures in the low 40s.

Your department is dispatched for a missing hunter near a river. His family reports that he was supposed to return several hours ago. His truck has been located near a trail leading toward the river.

Crews searching the bank hear someone yelling from the opposite side of the river, approximately ¼ mile downstream from the truck.

You locate one adult male. He appears wet, is shivering, and tells crews he fell into the river while attempting to cross and managed to get himself onto the opposite bank.

The river is moving, visibility is poor, and there is no immediate road access to his location. The opposite bank is steep, heavily wooded, and difficult to access by land.

Before entering the water, students check each other’s PPE from top to bottom. It’s a simple habit that reinforces something bigger-we look out for each other before, during, and after the rescue.

You don’t have to send your team hours away to find quality water rescue training — we’ll bring the training to you.

Hosting a class gives your responders the opportunity to train together, use the equipment they’ll respond with, and build skills in an environment that’s relevant to their own response area.

From moving water to boat operations, our goal is simple: provide hands-on training that prepares responders for the situations they may actually face.

Moving water doesn’t stop creating hazards when the water level drops.

Bridge piers often collect large amounts of debris after high water, creating strainers, changing current, and adding hidden hazards for anyone working on or near the water.

Reading the water also means reading everything the water leaves behind.
