To our Iola Elementary PTO members and supporters,
We were given notice at the end of May from Superintendent Dyer that the district is dissolving the current PTO structure at the Elementary campus only, effective with the 2025-2026 school year. According the notice given to us, the district is moving forward with a newly organized parent partnership model.
We were told more information regarding leadership opportunities and next steps for this new model would be shared in the coming weeks. As of today, there has been no information shared with the PTO.
We are a 501(c)(3) organization and cannot be dissolved by the school district. The district can, however, choose not to support our organization. The notice given to us thanked us for our time and gave no reasoning for the decision other than our organization does not reach enough families/volunteers.
The PTO board will be meeting this month to determine our next steps. Our primary goal is to find ways to deplete our fund balance that support the teachers and students. If you have suggestions on ways to spend this money (while keeping in mind we can no longer work directly with the school per their new model) we welcome your ideas and feedback. We will be transparent on how we are spending this money as we go (along with all decisions made).
If you have any questions or concerns, we will be happy to provide answers if we have them. We value transparency and will share any information we have as we get it. THANK YOU for your continued support of the PTO over the years - every volunteer made a difference for our teachers and students. We hope you will join us in continuing to support Iola Elementary and the new parent partnership model 🐾
