Today we celebrated our 2025-2026 wrestling season. It was a great day to reminisce about our season, reward our wrestlers, and spend time together as a team. We look forward to our future with our returning wrestlers and thank our seniors for all they have done for our program. We wish our seniors the best of luck as they move on to their future endeavors.

Thank you to everyone who attended and helped out at the banquet, as well as all season long! We look forward to seeing you in the 2026-2027 season.

After a tough weekend of wrestling at regionals, our wrestlers of the week have been awarded!
Boys: Cohen Cernoch, 12. Cohen showed out at regionals, wrestling some of his best matches of the season. Cohen is a leader with his work ethic in the wrestling room. He shows up every day, puts his nose to the grindstone and works to improve. This past week he really put his skills together in his matches, a puzzle he has been working to solve this season. Cohen finished 3rd in our region scoring pins in each of his victories.

Girls: Makenna Lesser, 10. Makenna is a determined worker, and showed that during the week leading up to regionals. She put on display a variety of skills in all positions which showed how much she has grown as wrestler. Makenna brought an intensity to her matches right out of the gate at regionals and battled her way to 6th in her weight class.

This past weekend, our boys and girls teams competed in their Regional tournaments. These tournaments qualify them for the West Virginia State Tournament, being in the top 4 for boys and top 8 for girls.

Our boys battled tough last weekend and rose to the occasion, wrestling some of their best matches of the year. We qualified 8 boys for the State tournament and finished 4th as a team.

Our girls traveled to Buckhannon to compete in the first ever Girls Regional. They showed up ready to compete and were hungry to punch their ticket to the State tournament. We qualified all 5 of our female wrestlers and finished 13th in a large region.

We will travel to Huntington next week to chase a spot on the podium at the State tournament. The boys team will compete March 5th, 6th, 7th and the girls team March 7th.

Our boys and girls teams will be competing this weekend in their regional tournaments. Placing in the top 4 for boys and top 8 for girls will qualify them for the WV state tournament!
The boys will compete at 10am at Hedgesville High on Saturday.
The girls will compete at 12pm at Buckhannon-Upshur High on Sunday.
