High School Grading Update
Important information for secondary students and families:
The Ontario Ministry of Education has modernized high school grading. Final marks now include mandatory in person written exams (in most subjects) during scheduled exam days and a mark for attendance and participation, alongside class work.
Grade 9–10 Breakdown: 65% class work, 20% written exam and culminating task, where applicable; 15% attendance/participation.
Grade 11–12 Breakdown: 65% class work, 25% written exam and culminating task, where applicable; 10% attendance/participation.
Please note: More than two unexcused absences prevents students from earning full attendance marks.
Excused absences verified by a parent or guardian (for example, illness, medical appointment) prior to or on the day of the absence will not penalize grades. Ensure your teen is present for all term days and formal exam dates! More information related to a specific course may be found in the course outline.
