⚠️ SCHOOL CLOSURE NOTICE

All Walton County School District campuses will be closed Thursday, October 8, and Friday, October 9, due to anticipated impacts from Isaias.

All extracurricular activities, including athletic games, practices, and club meetings, are also canceled during this time.

The safety of our students, staff, and families is our highest priority. We encourage everyone to use this time to prepare and follow guidance from Walton County Emergency Management.

Please continue to monitor District social media channels and the WCSD website for updates.

🦋 MIC students are helping Monarchs take flight!
Dr. Aresco’s Experimental Science Honors students are participating in Monarch Watch, a long-term mark-recapture research project with contributors across North America.
MIC student Maia Petraitus raises Monarch caterpillars in her garden and brings the pupae to MIC, where students work together to carefully measure, tag, and release the butterflies. As Monarchs migrate south toward their overwintering grounds in Mexico, each tag helps researchers learn more about their incredible journey.
The students’ data will be added to the Monarch Watch database, and now comes the exciting part—waiting to see where our MIC Monarchs travel! 🦋🌎

🌿🐢 Are you bio-feelin’ it?! 🐍🦋
Four MIC students spent their summer interning at the E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center, putting their love of science into action! Jake Knauer, Zack Hirschinger, Zach Litwin, and Olive Lafreniere gained valuable real-world experience while sharing their knowledge and passion for all living things with visitors to the Center.
Throughout the summer, they assisted with presentations for children and adults, cared for ambassador animals, and helped with behind-the-scenes administrative tasks.
A huge thank you to our partners at the E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center for providing such an incredible hands-on learning opportunity for our students. We love seeing our Panthers take their learning beyond the classroom! 💙💛

From pizza on the lawn and football outside to chess, ping pong, music, gaming, and just hanging out with friends, Mega Lunch gives our Panthers a chance to connect, recharge, and enjoy being together.
Sometimes the best part of the school day is simply having time to be a kid, find your people, and have a little fun. 🐾
