Campaign to Opt Out of Daylight Saving Time in TX To END Time Changes/Support HB #95 and SB #238. Year round DST is not an option because of Federal Law: the Uniform Act of 1966.

Ask them to opt TX out of Daylight Saving Time. Like year round DST could be achieved by switching most counties in Texas to Eastern Standard Time and the western most two counties to Central Standard Time. While this would end problems associated

with springing forward, it would still leave school children in morning darkness waiting for the school bus or walking to school at risk of being hit by a vehicle or assaulted. We have to opt out of DST and go on year round Standard Time across TX:

To END Time Changes Year round DST is not an option because of Federal Law: the Uniform Act of 1966. Like year round DST could be achieved by switching most counties in Texas to Eastern Standard Time and the western most two counties to Central Standard Time, but would require Congressional Authorization; Congress has NEVER authorized a state to move their time zones to the East. While this would end problems associated with springing forward, it would still leave school children in morning darkness waiting for the school bus or walking to school at risk of being hit by a vehicle or assaulted.
