According to the Iowa Department of Human Rights, the estimated number of Native Americans in Iowa is 16,222 in 2017. Thankgiving overshadows the true history of the genocide of the Indigenous peoples which should not be forgotten. Let's educate ourselves and respect other identities in the process.

As today is the last day of Hispanic Heritage Month, we want to talk about one of our favorite artists of all time: Selena. Selena Quintanilla is famous for her Tejano music and signature looks. She is one of the most influential Latinx artists to make an impact in the mainstream music industry. She won a Grammy in 1993 and a gold record in 1994 with Amor Prohibido. To this day, she is celebrated and her music continues to be a part of our lives, especially in the Latinx community. October 15 does not mark the last day to have pride in being Hispanic. Everyday we are proud - culture is pride, pride is success after all.
