LIW FAMILIES - we’re HALF WAY through the first week - can you believe it!! This week has been off to a GREAT start!

PTO is solely ran by the parents of LIW students & a few amazing teacher liaisons. The events, teacher grants, fundraising, volunteering, meetings, food provided for the staff, and so much more would not be made possible, without them! However, we need more bodies for our PTO to thrive and continue to be so successful - please consider joining us at our zero pressure, easy, one hour (or less) meetings each month! Your influence and ideas are very much welcomed!!

The start of a new school year is almost here, and we look forward to welcoming students and families during our Open House events! 📚

Elementary Schools:
➡️ Whittier: Thursday, August 20, from 5:30 to 6:30pm
➡️ Wilder: Thursday, August 20, from 5:00 to 6:00pm
➡️ Emerson: Thursday, August 20, from 6:00 to 7:00pm

Middle School:
➡️ 6th Grade Open House: August 17 and 18, at 4:00pm
➡️ 7th and 8th Grade Open House: Thursday, August 20, from 6:00 to 7:00pm

High School:
➡️ 10th through 12th grade Open House: Thursday, August 20, from 6:00 to 7:00pm
➡️ 9th grade and new student Open House: Thursday, August 20, from 6:30 to 8:00pm

Students in 6th through 12th grade can also pick up their Chromebook during our Chromebook Exchange in the Multipurpose Gym at the Middle School on their designated day between noon and 8:00pm. Please enter through the Fieldhouse doors.

Free meals are available for all kids through the Summer Meal Program! ☀️

Families may pick up Grab & Go meals at Indianola Middle School from June 8 through July 30. Pickup is available on Mondays and Thursdays from 11:00am to 12:30pm and 3:00 to 4:30pm.

No signup is required. Meals are available on a first come, first served basis.

For special dietary accommodations or questions, please contact the ICSD Food Service Department directly at 515-961-9521. 📲

Free summer meals will be available for all kids through the Summer Meal Program! Families can pick up Grab & Go meals at Indianola Middle School from June 8 through July 30. ☀️

Meal pick-up will be available on Mondays and Thursdays from 11:00am to 12:30pm and 3:00 to 4:30pm.

After careful consideration, Indianola Community School District will cancel school for students on Friday, May 29, 2026. This means Thursday, May 28, 2026, will be the final day of school for all students (including Irving Elementary), with a normal dismissal time.

This decision was made after reviewing staffing needs and operational considerations across the district during an already ​complex end-of-year week. ​In making this decision, the District ensured that ​t​he adjustment ​d​id not impact high school final exams or district instructional hour requirements.

​ICC will also be closed on Friday, May 29.

We understand this change may create challenges for some families and sincerely appreciate your flexibility, grace, and support. Thank you for your partnership as we work to navigate the final week of school together.
