Today we celebrate Dr. Yvonne Stokes, Superintendent of Gary Community School Corporation and President of the Indiana Alliance of Black School Educators (INABSE), as one of Indiana’s Black superintendents leading with vision, courage, and commitment to students and community.

Representation in leadership matters — and Dr. Stokes continues to demonstrate what it looks like to serve with excellence, purpose, and heart. Her leadership is helping shape brighter futures for students in Gary and across Indiana while strengthening the network of Black educators through INABSE.

We are thrilled to celebrate the official installment of our newest and most impactful affiliate chapter: IndyABSE, representing the incredible leaders, educators, and advocates of Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS)!

This moment is more than an addition to our network. It’s a declaration that together, we are strengthening the pipeline, elevating Black excellence, and transforming outcomes for students and educators across our state.
