My six year old son wore mismatched socks to our family photos last month.

He wanted tall black socks over his knees. I said no. He came back with white socks pulled over the black ones. I said no again. We both had a small meltdown and then I let him have it.

I realized that I was keeping him from being who he is. Because one of my biggest goals as a parent is to capture my kids for exactly who they are right now instead of what I would like them to look like in a photo.

Here’s how I tie this back to college admissions… the families who stop trying to fit their student into a mold and start finding a school that fits them instead are the ones who have children that thrive and graduate!

That’s the whole heart of what I do!

If you have a rising 9th, 10th or 11th grader and you’re starting to feel the pressure, I’d love to talk. I am currently enrolling for my comprehensive College Compass program. Let me be your families guide through the college admissions process.

A free 30 minute call is the easiest first step. Book that here ➡️ https://calendly.com/edpathconsult/30-minute-free-introductory-phone-call

And if you need a senior or family photographer - we used and she was incredible!

You don’t need more college admissions information. You need someone to show you where to start and what matters.

Yesterday, I took a Mahjong class and during the class I started thinking about the families I work with.

I could feel the overwhelm in the boutique where we were learning the game.

Women were looking at tiles cards, acronyms, learning new rules, and it all felt so familiar. It’s exactly what parents tell me that they feel when they are trying to navigate college planning alone.

Our mahjong teacher started with the board, guided us through the tiles, then went through the card, then how the game starts, and finally we played a couple of rounds. By the end it was all starting to come together - I saw how all the pieces fit together and what was most important and what didn’t matter for me right now.

This is what I do, I’m your neurodiverse teen’s guide and teacher through the college admissions process. I cut through the noise and tell you what to focus on and what to forget about. I know your child and give them guidance targeted to their situation and not just the generic advice you see on Instagram.

Wondering how my process starts? It all begins with the intake meeting!

After I officially sign up a new client, I ask them and their parents to complete intake forms and then we schedule an intake meeting!

During this virtual 75 minute meeting, we go through the entire college admissions process. All of the components - grades, scheduling, test scores activities, recommendation letters, and then what the application process will look like.

I break everything down for you and answer all of your questions and then schedule an individual meeting with just your child to start to really get to know them one on one as we begin to work together.

This graphic represents every school where a student I worked with this admission cycle received an acceptance. I am so proud of all of them, and as a reminder, the school on their sweatshirt does not determine their story — they do. What matters most is what they do once they get there!

Moms of 10th and 11th graders I see you! You’re holding all of things - homework, meal prep, whose birthday is next, and planning summer vacation. The college admissions process doesn’t need to be one of those things!

A lot has changed since you were in school and you don’t need to learn it all and then hold your child accountable to complete it all.

That’s where I come in - I manage the college admissions process for you! I hold your child accountable and let know you know what the next thing is.

As my client Emily said she was able to enjoy her son again and experience his senior year with him instead of nagging him to complete his college essays.

May 1 is tomorrow. 💙

If you're a senior parent: congratulations. You did it. However you feel right now — proud, bittersweet, exhausted — it's all ok!

If you're a junior parent watching your friends post acceptance photos: I see you. This is scary. It doesn't have to be.

This is the exact moment to start — not when you're panicking in October.
