Ancestor of the day:
Today's ancestor of the day is Vincenzo Carlino, a maternal 2nd great grandfather of mine. Sailing from Palermo, Sicily on December 11, 1905, at the age of almost 18, he would arrive in New York on January 2, 1906 on the Ship Giulia with his mom, Rosa, and cousin, Antonio. Their trip took almost a month, and after arriving in New York, they would be held for special inquiry. Had they not passed this inquiry, they would have been sent back to Sicily. Luckily they were able to stay in New York and start a new life in America. About 11 1/2 years later, on May 28th, 1917, at the age of 29, Vincenzo Carlino would become a Naturalized Citizen of the United States. Today, all direct descendants of Vincenzo Carlino should celebrate CARLINO NATURALIZATION DAY!!!

I remember her well from my childhood. Some of my best memories growing up involve her and being at her house, or her coming over to our house for birthdays and holidays.
