Y is for (drumroll please)……YEET THE SEAT

Unfortunately, you will sometimes need to destroy a car seat. And not JUST destroy itβ€”you’ll need to render it impossible to use should someone take it out of the trash (ask Jamie, he has lots of experience with this 🫠 🐁).
*
πŸ‘€πŸ‘€πŸ‘€ Reasons you would need to YEET THE SEAT:
βœ… Expiration (check those labels for info)
βœ… Crash/Collision: some seats MUST be replaced after any collision & some adhere to NHTSA β€œminor crash criteria” - read your manual to see which applies to your seat (if I’m doubt, phone the manufacturer and ASK!)
βœ… Contamination: again, Jamie has experience with this. If 🐁,🦝, 🐿️ , 🐈, mold, etc are involved: it might just be impossible to clean your seat properly. And no one like 🐁 πŸ’© in a seat.
*
βœ… Basic Destruction Tips
Cut the harnesses from the seat. Shred fabric with scissors. If you can, break pieces like lock-offs that help with installation. Dispose of pieces separately.
πŸ—‘οΈ
βœ… RECYCLING
Some car seat manufacturers recycle seats (waves at @clekinc). Contact your seat manufacturer and see if they have a program like this because it also helps keep seats out of landfills. Alternatively, see if your city has any recycling depots that may take car seats for recycling for free or a small fee.
πŸ—‘οΈ
βœ… TRADE-IN EVENTS
In the last few years, retailers (πŸ‘‹πŸ» @target) have instituted trade in events that happen once or twice a year. They allow you to bring any car seat to the store and redeem it for some kind of store credit.

Plan ahead for Trick or Treating and don’t let bulky costumes scare you away from correctly using your car seat. Avoid bulky clothes or costumes under the harness straps.
