The Memory Project delivered the portraits and identity art to the children in Malaysia, and I'm excited to share the video below. I really hope you enjoy it!
The Art 1 students created artwork this past school year!
The majority of these children are from families that migrated to Malaysia as refugees. Many refugees go to Malaysia because it's a safe country that will not deport them. However, children who are refugees (and other children who do not possess official identity documents) are not allowed to attend government schools. These children therefore attend a school run by a charity for refugees with 2,000 students from 20+ countries. The language of instruction is English, and I'm sure you'll enjoy hearing what the children had to say!
