Welcome to Leslie County Schools!

On behalf of our educators, staff, and Board of Education, welcome to a new school year. In Leslie County, everything we do is guided by a simple belief: "Together We Can." When our schools, families, and community unite, our students thrive.

This year, our daily work centers on four critical priorities:

· School Safety: Continuously refining security measures to ensure every school is a safe, welcoming space.

· Improving Attendance: Every day in class matters. We are partnering with families to build habits that keep students present and engaged.

· K–8 Math Excellence: Implementing a dynamic new math curriculum to strengthen problem-solving skills early on.

· New Teacher Academy: Supporting and mentoring our newest educators so great teaching flourishes in every classroom.

Looking to the future, we are also thrilled to share that renovations to the Leslie County Area Technology Center will begin this year, funded by a $10 million grant from the Kentucky School Facilities Construction Commission (SFCC). This major investment will transform technical training and workforce readiness for our students.

Reminder! Ealry Literacy Hour is still going on this Friday and every Friday after!

Join LKLP Head Start and the Leslie Co. Public Library for an hour of stories, crafts, music and movement, and hands-on activities that help build early literacy skills.

Children ages birth to 5 are welcome! Parents and guardians are required to stay and participate.

Come make new friends, enjoy a great story, and help your little one build a love of reading. We hope to see you there!

LKLP Community Action Council Back to School Bash! Come to Hyden’s River Front Park tonight until 7 for free physicals, free health screenings, free food, Head Start Screening & Registration, and more! Check out the mobile classroom, Henry the Head Start Bus, located in the parking lot!

We have a little surprise for children coming to Head Start/Preschool Screening & Registration tomorrow! We will be in the LCHS Cafeteria on Tuesday from 9-2; Come through the cafeteria entrance. Children must be 3 on the day of registration. Only new students need to attend; Returning Head Start/Preschool students do not need to be screened tomorrow. We are so excited for another great year! Leslie County Community Back to School Bash

Mark your calendars for a fun evening of family activities!

Join us for the Leslie County Community Back to School Bash on Thursday, August 13, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Riverfront Park in Hyden.

This free community event will feature:

Wellness screenings, skin cancer screenings, and sports physicals provided by the ARH Mobile Clinic
Free meals while supplies last
Health education and community resources
Inflatables, train rides, games, and other children's activities
Live music
A special appearance by Henry the Head Start Bus

Bring the whole family and enjoy an evening of fun as we get ready for a great school year. Everyone is welcome!
