The South Dakota State HOSA Conference took place in Sioux Falls on April 16-17, where Huron HOSA achieved notable success with four state-level winners and two recognition awards. HOSA fosters students' interest in healthcare careers and provides support throughout their journey. Over 1,500 SD HOSA members participated in nearly 60 healthcare career events, which typically consisted of a written test and a skills-based qualifying round. The conference recognized the following Huron HOSA members: Yaziely Sotomayor Ramos, who secured first place in World Health Disparities; Htoo Law Eh, who earned second place in Life Support Skills; Eh Clay and Ann Say, who attained third place in Nursing Assisting and Respiratory Therapy events, respectively. Additionally, Brianna Cronin received recognition for completing 144 hours of service with the American Red Cross and was awarded the Barbra Jean Service Award for organizing two blood drives and recruiting donors for 80 units of blood.

Huron HOSA is having some fun doing a paint project at the state Hosa convention. It has been a fun day of competition and breakout sessions. Healthcare holds so many possibilities and opportunities. More pics to come tomorrow.

I’m so proud of these gals who volunteered all day at the blood drive. Brianna organized her second drive. Brianna you are going to be a wonderful healthcare worker in years to come.

The HOSA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE in Nashville offers a wide range of opportunities for future healthcare professionals to explore, both in workshops and the exhibit hall, with numerous health career representatives available for guidance. The HHS students are having a great time.
