Congratulations to COHS student Carter Pacovsky on completing his 400-hour internship in the Biomechanics and Motor Behavior Laboratory at Sam Houston State University! 🧪📊🎉
Over the course of two semesters, Carter gained valuable hands-on research experience in biomechanics, motor behavior, gait analysis, data collection, and scientific communication. He also had the opportunity to present his work at multiple conferences, strengthening his skills as both a researcher and emerging professional.
In addition to his presentations, Carter contributed to manuscript development for ongoing research projects, including work currently in preparation for journal submission and additional manuscripts expected in the coming year.
We are proud to see COHS students engaging in high-impact research that advances knowledge in health sciences while building strong foundations for future academic and professional success.
Congratulations, Carter, on this impressive accomplishment! 🧡💙
A special thank you to Dr. Harsh Buddhadev, the Biomechanics and Motor Behavior Laboratory at SHSU, and the SHSU Career Success Center for supporting this experience.

🚒🧪 Last week, Dr. Gonzales and students from the Kinesiology Department traveled to Austin to collect data for an ongoing study examining the effects of creatine on firefighter performance.
Participants completed cognitive testing, vertical jump assessments, and simulated firefighter tasks while fully geared in oxygen tanks and protective equipment. Researchers monitored heart rate, oxygen levels, and blood lactate responses before and after exertion to better understand how supplementation may impact performance in the field.
This research aims to help support the health, safety, and effectiveness of the first responders who serve our communities every day. We’re proud to see our students gaining hands-on research experience that makes a real-world impact. 👏🔥

Myth vs. Fact Monday💭
When you push, pull, or lift something, your brain sends signals to your muscles to produce force. Whether that resistance comes from a machine, dumbbell, or barbell doesn’t matter.
Results aren’t about the tool. They’re about the effort. 💪
