It's a difficult post, and one I never wanted to have. But, ultimately, The Bakingtist will be closing, in its entirety, December 2024 or sooner.

I have posted my final classes for the year, and I am really hopeful you will come join. I promise to put my whole heart into them, and I really think you will be happy with your decision to come.

I am so lucky that I have gotten to spend so many years pursuing my big ol' dream. Thank you everyone for making it possible. While this is difficult, I truly am looking forward to my next chapter. I am excited to launch back into a career in STEM, and to spend more time with friends, family, and having fun.

Some notes:
-We are very much hoping for a new tenant as soon as possible, so please spread the word of my available space. Because of the nature of a new tenant coming in, I may need to close sooner than anticipated (if a tenant is able to get in quickly).
-If you have a gift certificate or credit, please try to use it with these classes or equipment/supply purchases.
-I plan to have a final bakery garage sale the last weekend of December where I will be liquidating mostly everything. I will have lots of supplies for home and industry bakers and cooks.

Story of "The Little Pinky That Could" and an update!

🤙There is a big flexor tendon in our wrist that connects to the end of our fingers
🌳 It branches out in order to enable all of the unique bending abilities of our hand and fingers. It branches into two with the pinky.
🔪I completely severed the two in the pinky, thus cutting a lot of the connection of the wrist to the pinky (on my dominant hand)
👨‍⚕️I had an awesome doctor, Dr. Yu, that performed surgery on my hand and made sure to have it safely immobilized for six weeks while the tendons healed.
🗓️After six weeks of therapy, I could again bend my fingers and use my hand! It wasn't perfect, but oh boy was I glad to have use back!!

NOW, 12 weeks later:
🤙Just because of how healing sometimes happens, the pinky went into a pretty severe contracture. This meant that it is super bent and can't unbend.
🤕 It now has a stiff little brace. The brace REALLY hurts because ➡️➡️
🥵 In therapy, we push down on the joint with as much force as humanly possible, until I am in pretty awful pain, and then wrap that in place!!
🫠Thus, it just constantly throbs and feels like it's being severely pushed on the whole time. Tis' no fun.
💪But I still am SUPER glad I can use the pinky (when not braced) *and!!!* that there is hope we can straighten it out before we think about a second surgery!!

💖💖💖Thank you all again for being part of my journey and the support with this no-fun injury. I am very grateful and send soooooo many thank you smiles, love, and hugs.

This was back when I tried to be something I wasn't. I thought I could wear the coat and the chefness would come.👩‍🍳

💕Nearly two years ago, I opened my brick and mortar bakery and cafe.

❤️ The bakery failed. And I know we don't like that word, but I'm truly okay with it. Failure is data.

👓Hindsight is 20/20. I do look back and believe myself to have been quite naive opening the brick and mortar bakery. A white chef coat wouldn't have changed anything, that's for sure 🫠

🌟I will tell you this: I have a truely amazing community of customers that I've gotten to know well. They are the biggest light of the business and many feel like family. I also have growth - which I wouldn't have had if I didn't take the path I did. And, I got to pursue a dream: and that is something to not take lightly at all.

And now, I still get to be the big ol' non-chef mess that I am.

Two honest thoughts and one learning change 🙄 :

1. teaching kiddos is something I've grown to appreciate as not easy. I 400000% better appreciate all teachers of young kids.

2. I think I would have melted in my last class without the older kiddos. They helped SO MUCH!! It was amazing to see how much they wanted to help and how great they were at it!

Conclusion: Next kids class tickets will come with grownups. Those were a blast for Mother's day and Father's day, and now we have a Halloween Pizza one too. I need you parents, lol. 🫠
