Celebrating our Spring 2026 Communication Arts Graduates! First up is Reagan Paulus!

I’m thrilled to be pursuing my Master’s in Advertising & PR at The University of Alabama this fall! I’ll also be serving as a graduate assistant at The Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations. I’m excited to build on the skills I developed through my Communication Arts degree while gaining experience in digital media strategy and creating content narratives for real-world campaigns.

Last week, Communication Arts Faculty, Dr. Eletra Gilchrist-Petty, Dr. Xiaoti Fan, Dr. Nur Makbul, and Dr. John Saunders all presented original research and spoke on panels at the annual Southern States Communication Association conference in Birmingham, AL. Current UAH students, Jenna Dean and Jalynn Whitfield, both presented original research at the conference.

Today was a great day to learn about public relations! Thank you to Amanda Jarrett, Sonia Robinson, Whitney Schmitt, and Lisa Darnell Frazier for representing the Public Relations Council of Alabama, North Alabama Chapter and assisting our students in better understanding the field. A special thank you to Kristina Hendrix, VP of Strategic Communications at UAH, for attending the event and to Adam Kelly for moderating the panel.

Join the Communication Arts Department and North Alabama Public Relations Council Association for a “Day in the Life of a PR Practitioner” panel featuring industry professionals Whitney Schmitt (Communications Manager at Aviation & Missile Solutions), Sonia Robinson, APR (President, BAILOR Group), and Amanda Jarrett, APR (Director of Operations and Communications for the City of Madison).

Our panelists will share insights into their daily work, career paths, and advice for students interested in communication and public relations. Light refreshments will be provided, and all students are welcome to attend!
