New baby alert! 🤱🏽👶🏾

Welcoming a new son into our family has been a blessing and a beautiful adventure! 🍼 It has shown us that love is boundless and that there's always more to give.

Helping our toddler adjust to this new chapter has been a top priority, and books like "Shh! Don't Wake the Baby" by Petra Brown have been invaluable. 📖 This heartwarming story speaks to the challenges of an older sibling adjusting to the arrival of a new baby, highlighting the emotions and changes they may experience. It's been a joy to read to my 4-year-old, especially as we continue to work with him on using his bedtime voice. 🥴

From an early age, they stressed to me how important it was to vote in every election, no matter the candidates or issues on the table. And so, as a parent, I take my children to vote with me as often a

Best Nature Books with Black Kids for Readers of All Ages 02/15/2023

The earlier you expose children to nature, the more likely they are to develop a life-long love for it. Also, going outdoors can be beneficial in early childhood development by sharpening language and problem-solving skills.

Unfortunately, recent stats have shown that participation in outdoor spaces (i.e. forests and national/state parks) is disproportionately white, with a number of factors contributing to this, including the lack of representation surrounding the outdoors.

To support efforts to build diversity outdoors by changing the narrative and encouraging young readers to get outside, we have curated a recommendation of the best outdoor books with black lead characters.

Centering Black Voices 02/01/2023

"It sometimes feels like there’s this unspoken belief that centering Black voices means centering our pains and traumas. That’s all people want to talk about: our resilience and how much we’ve overcome. And there’s a story to be told there, of course, but… I think we have so much more to offer in our contributions than our stories of survival." –Radiah Shabazz, MSW
