Today in one of our Pre Laker Care groups we worked together to build our fine motor skills while exploring colors and patterns! The kids practiced sorting and placing the pieces, all while noticing how colors repeat and patterns grow.

We are thrilled to announce our 2024 Parade Grand Marshal: James Weninger!

Affectionately known as "Winnie" to the many who have passed through his classroom or partnered with him in the community, his 40 years as an Ag Teacher and Advisor to the HLWW FFA have left an incredible mark on our area. From many incredible successes with his FFA teams, to not only teaching but also demonstrating to students how to work hard on real-life projects, to being full of mischief and fun, you can always count on Winnie. We wish him the best in his retirement, and hope you will join us on parade day to give him a hearty thank you!

In our Pre Laker Care room the kids are learning about Foods and Flavors. Today they enjoyed making caterpillars out of celery, peanut butter and grapes.

Are you looking at doing a little spring cleaning? HLWW Laker Care is accepting donations of gently used items including:

*Bookshelves
*Small Coffee Table
*Small Futon or Couch
*Small Living room chairs or any cozy chairs
*Beans Bags
* Little Tikes Outdoor Play Equipment (or similar items)
*High top Table and Chairs/Stools
*Floor Lamp
*Toddler/preschool sized stools
*Larger Kitchen Playset
*Air Hockey or Foosball table

*Winter Boots sizes 7-10 youth

*Storage totes and or baskets for toys

*Old Cameras, phones, and laptops

*We always love to have donations of toys, games, and puzzles as well so we can add variety for the kids!

If you have items to donate, smaller- medium size items can be dropped off at the HLWW Community Ed Office located in the lower level of the Middle School anytime between M-F 8:30-4:30 pm or M-Th 5:30 - 8:30 pm

Did you know our Pre Laker Care room has a partnership with the 6th graders? Once a week we have a rotation of 6th graders that come and read to the kids during their advisory time. This has been such a great opportunity for both age groups!

The other day the SA Laker Care group learned about how sap is collected from the maple tree and how it is made into maple syrup. The Ag classes have been making syrup and we were lucky to have Winnie share a jar with us. They were able to taste it today and they give it a thumbs up!
