We're back with our Black Pilot Series where we highlight those pioneers that paved the way for us to soar the skies! ✈️
-
Today we give honorable mention and recognize the pilots of The Tuskegee Airmen!

As the first black military aviators in the United States Armed Forces, they are recognized for their efforts and sacrifices during World War II. They also paved the way for future pilots of all races!

Shout out to Ms. Vivian 'Millie' Bailey, who just celebrated her 104th birthday (Feb. 3rd)🥳
-
U.S. Army First Lieutenant Vivian "Millie" Bailey was one of the first African American women pilots and one of only two black women to earn superior rank at her officer's course. She was a lieutenant in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps, serving from 1942 to 1946 as the Unit Commander of the Women's Detachment #2. Later, Mrs. Bailey served as a commander of the all-female detachment before being selected to attend the Adjutant General School Officers' Administration Course. As one of only two Black women in the class, she graduated with outstanding marks and went on to serve for the first time with an unsegregated unit.
