Do you know what the bus lights mean?

🟡 Flashing Yellow Lights – The bus is preparing to stop. Slow down and be ready to stop.

🔴 Flashing Red Lights & Stop Arm Extended – STOP! It's the law. Remain stopped until the bus begins moving again, the stop arm is retracted, and the red lights stop flashing.

🚸 Every stop protects a child crossing the street.

Constable Mark Herman's Office will have extra deputies patrolling school zones and enforcing school bus safety laws throughout the school year.

🚦📚 TRAFFIC TIP TUESDAY — BACK TO SCHOOL! 📚🚦

🏫 SCHOOL STARTS TOMORROW!

As many local school districts prepare to welcome students back tomorrow, Constable Mark Herman reminds motorists that reduced speed limits in school zones will be in effect.

Expect increased traffic around schools, bus stops, and surrounding neighborhoods during morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal. Please leave home with extra time, slow down, stay alert, and obey all traffic laws and school zone speed limits.

🚸 Watch closely for children walking or riding bicycles.
🚌 Stop for school buses when required by law.
📵 Put the phone down and keep your attention on the road.
🚗 Be patient during increased back-to-school traffic.

Constable Deputies will continue working alongside our local ISD Police Departments to help ensure students, parents, teachers, and staff have a safe start to the new school year.

🛑 NATIONAL STOP ON RED WEEK: EVERY STOP MATTERS

As students across Precinct 4 head back to school, Constable Mark Herman reminds everyone that this is also National Stop on Red Week. It's a perfect time to remember that every decision you make behind the wheel can make a difference.

In the coming days, you'll see more school buses, crossing guards, parents, and children walking and riding their bikes to school. Please slow down, obey school zone speed limits, stop for school buses when required by law, and never try to beat a yellow or red light.

A few extra seconds at an intersection could save a life.
