🚢 Gators Exploring High-Demand Careers! 🔧⚙️

This morning, Mr. Menotti’s Practicum of Ag Engineering students had the incredible opportunity to tour Gulf Copper to learn firsthand about their Shipfitter Apprenticeship Program—a cutting-edge workforce pathway where icebreaker ships will soon be built through a Department of Labor grant.

Students discovered how, upon graduation, they can enter the 22-month apprenticeship, which blends college-level classroom instruction with on-the-job training through partnerships with Galveston College and College of the Mainland.

💼 This is yet another example of how Dickinson ISD CTE connects students to real-world, high-skill, high-wage opportunities right here on the Gulf Coast. Our Dickinson High School Automotive Technology students had an incredible showing at the Houston Auto Dealers Association’s annual Auto Tech Competition — one of the largest and most competitive high-school technician events in the region!

We sent two teams of three students, each completing a six-week internship at their sponsoring dealership to prepare.

Team Lexus of Clear Lake
Joe Silva • David Villalobos • Bryan Ceron
This team trained daily at Lexus of Clear Lake and delivered an outstanding performance, earning 4th overall out of 23 Houston-area schools and dealerships.

A special congratulations to Joe Silva, who dominated the entire competition:
• Top overall individual scorer out of more than 70 competitors
• Top scorer in CCAR Safety
• Top scorer on the ASE test portion
Joe truly set the bar for the event!

Team McRee Ford
Edgar Perez Duran • Genesis Urbina • Johnny Cooley
Our McRee Ford team worked just as hard, representing both the dealership and Dickinson with professionalism and skill. Their strong performance earned a 10th-place overall finish in a highly competitive field.

Both of our teams placed in the Top 10 in the entire Houston area, and we could not be more proud of the dedication, talent, and hard work shown by every student.

Huge thank-you to Lexus of Clear Lake and McRee Ford for sponsoring, mentoring, and investing in the future of our automotive students. Go Gators! 💚🐊

🎓 Dickinson High School Hosts First Annual CTE College & Career Connections Night! 💼⚙️🩺

What an incredible evening at DHS as we welcomed students and families to explore the wide range of opportunities available through our Career & Technical Education programs!

Our inaugural CTE College & Career Connections Night spotlighted hands-on demonstrations and presentations from programs such as Dental Assisting, Pharmacy Tech, X-Ray/Imaging, PCT/EKG, Forensics, Robotics & Engineering, ROTC, and many more. Families had the chance to see firsthand how CTE prepares Gators for real-world success.

Guests also attended Dual Credit & Collegiate High School information sessions, met with administrators and counselors, and received help with college applications and FAFSA completion.

Plus, everyone enjoyed an exciting sneak peek from Principal Courtney Ramirez of the new 100,000 sq. ft. CTE Center, opening Fall 2026—a state-of-the-art facility that will expand hands-on learning and workforce-aligned pathways for all students.

Events like this empower our families to make informed decisions about course selections and inspire students to confidently chart their path toward college, careers, or military service.
