📚Over 800 students served in the month of September - our shelves and technology are working overtime!! Our students enjoyed "Books for Buttons" as we celebrated Talk Like a Pirate Day. The annual world wide "Fat Bear Week" champion was crowned. Chunk came in 1st, even with a broken jaw, after finishing 2nd 3 years in a row. More than 1 million people voted and the students loved learning new facts about Brown Bears in Alaska.

Had the pleasure of getting to visit with one of our former students who is now a published author! So proud of Casey_Author_Indifferents and her books. So excited to have all of our seventh graders next year be able to enjoy her books as well!

This year’s 7th grade ELAR students enjoyed an author visit with former Leaman Junior High student and author of “Indifferents”, Casey Giles. Several of the 7th grade ELAR teachers wrote grants to fund class sets of the book for future book clubs during one of the learning units. We also placed an order to offset any remaining copies.
We are thrilled to support a local, indie author in our school!

Today about 20 of our students along with about 300 from Fulshear High School got to hear the famous author, Neal Shusterman, talk about his new book. He has written over 50 books and many of these are favorites of our readers in Jr. High and the High School. What a treat! The students behaved amazingly and represented the purple track with pride!
