There’s something about the Four Corners that stays with you long after you leave.

Seeing this old Farmington Public Library card brought back a wave of memories from my time serving in the 4 Corners region. The red rock formations, the quiet strength of the land, the blend of cultures, and the way the sky seemed to stretch forever—it all shaped me in ways I didn’t appreciate until years later.

I remember early mornings driving through Farmington, Shiprock in the distance catching the first light. I remember conversations with community members who carried generations of wisdom, and days spent navigating work, service, and purpose with the vast desert as my backdrop. The land has a way of grounding you, reminding you of how small you are, and at the same time, how much impact your service can make.

It wasn’t always easy, but it was meaningful. And when I think back, I don’t just remember the challenges—I remember the growth, the people, and the quiet moments of peace that only the 4 Corners can give.

Grateful for the journey. Grateful for the memories. And grateful for everything this region taught men
