It was another busy Sunday at the MBJLC! Our fifth grade class took their tiyyul to the Judaic exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston with a stop at the Rabbi Samuel Karff bridge, while seventh grade had their final Kehillah 7 session. All our other grades had fun in their learning spaces. We’ll see you next Sunday for our final trip of the year, sixth grade’s Mitzvah Mavens to Waiting Under the Willows Animal Shelter.

Passover came early to the MBJLC this Sunday! Our pre-k through sixth grades enjoyed a Passover experience, starting with a joyful Tefilah filled with Passover songs led by Rabbi Adrienne P Scott, David Scott, and Michael Mason. After, we enjoyed a taste of Passover as Rabbi Scott and David taught us the Hagaddah through food. We finished the morning by making Seder plates, Elijah or Miriam cups, and plague puppets; building pyramids from Jenga blocks; and testing our Passover knowledge with Gimkits, Kahoots, and escape rooms! Meanwhile, seventh grade toured the Holocaust Museum with Cantor Kenneth Feibush. We would like to give a special thanks to Beth Israel member and museum docent Jerilyn Gordon for the enlightening and meaningful tour. We wish you all a happy Passover, and we look forward to seeing you back at the MBJLC on April 12.

The MBJLC was the place to be this Sunday as we welcomed The Afro-Semitic Experience for a musical Tefilah and a private concert for our upper grades. Also Sunday, our fourth grade visited JFS Celebration Company with Rabbi Sam Rheins and David Scott, and our third grade got a special tour of Beth Israel with Michael Mason. We’ll see you next week for our all-new Passover Experience for all grades!

It was a busy day for the MBJLC! While sixth and seventh grades were on tiyyulim, everyone else prepped for Purim! Fourth and fifth grade made hamantaschen, pre-k made graggers, first and second grades made Purim masks and third grade learned all about the holiday. We can’t wait to see you this Sunday, March 1 for our annual Purim Carnival! Don’t miss our amazing Clergy starring in the Purim Spiel and Cantor Feibush chanting the Megillah at 9:30. The carnival open at 10:15 with all your favorites, including the mechanical bull and, of course, free ice cream!

Our annual MBJLC 6th grade Jewish History Tour was such a joy today, especially with today’s gorgeous weather. Rabbi Rheins, David Scott, Daniel Smith and Pat Mintz joined our group as we toured Jewish Houston. Special thanks to Immediate Past President (and 6th grade grandparent!) Richard Kaplan who helped guide our students at the historic Holman Street Temple, to Jeffrey Tucker, who spoke to us about Jewish imourning riuals, and to
Kenny & Ziggy's New York Delicatessen
for treating all of us to delicious Jewish food from Eastern Europe! We are grateful to the Alexander Family MBJLC Community Engagement Fund for making this possible.

It was another amazing Sunday at the MBJLC! Our pre-k, kindergarten, first, and second grades went on their Mitzvah Mavens trip to The Medallion at Seven Acres where they joined with residents for snack, story time, and crafting gratitude wheels for Thanksgiving. Third through sixth grades spent time in their learning spaces, and seventh grade got to tour the Temple, even seeing the hidden organ loft! We hope you all have a meaningful Thanksgiving, and we look forward to seeing you back on December 7, when our third and fourth graders visit The Ronald McDonald House.
