Yesterday was AMAZING! Another great show in the books! Congrats to all 24 of our 2026 graduating class! Thank you to the HCC Interior Design Department, to our Advisory Board, our event sponsors, ASID Texas Gulf Coast Chapter Interior Design Society - Houston Chapter and , trade show participants, student volunteers and WHI for all their support! Our expanded program is off to a great start; Speed Mentoring, a real world project Design Charrette, a curated Trade Show and Professional Organization presentations were all great events for our graduating and current students! If you didn’t make it this year, we hope to see you in 2027!

These are the moments that matter: learning, leading, and representing HCC with confidence at the AIA Healthcare Symposium.

This week we wrapped up an incredible three-day Healthcare Design Symposium, and I couldn’t be prouder of our students. The AIA Houston invited our HCC Interior Design students to participate in the Health Symposium Exhibition & Social (SES), and we were thrilled to say yes. SES brings together the architectural, design, and healthcare communities for education, conversation, and connection and our students stepped right into that world.

From Thursday afternoon at the TMC Helix campus through today’s final 12-hour student design charrette and presentations at the AIA Architecture Center Houston, our students participated in a social, seminar, panel discussion, and an intense, real-world design challenge.

And here’s the part that makes me especially proud:Our Interior Design students (alongside our SFA interior design friends) absolutely held their own at the table with architecture students from Rice University, Texas Tech, and Prairie View A&M.
This is what experiential learning looks like.
This is why representation of interior design in healthcare matters.
And this is why I believe so deeply in our students and their future in the profession.

👏👏👏
Congratulation to our students:

Julianna Couty
Raul Flores
Fiona Puga
Ashley Martinez

Job well done!

The HCC Interior Design Program wants to extend a warm welcome to our newest Work-Study Student, Kaliyah Goode. Kaliyah has moved from another HCC department to Interiors and we are so excited to have her. She's already dived into some projects in the department! Kaliyah has started her second year of design classes and a fun fact...she has an "Irish Twin"...anyone know what that is? Stop into FAC319 and say hello, welcome Kaliyah!

So proud of the work our students do at HCC. This was last Spring's Commercial Design Studio and they did an awesome job helping our own HCC Coleman College come up with a design for their new Innovation Center. Checkout the amazing flythrough from one team. (The team also won the ASID Ruby Award for their project!)

What happens when our HCC Interior Design Department and Houston City College - Coleman College for Health Sciences collaborate on a project? Read here to find out how our talented Interior Design students shared their ingenuity and creativity to enhance this project.
