If you already have a great team who cares and wants the best for their clients, you have the magic to be great at retail.
Taking retail from $60,000 to almost $400,000 in 3 years felt unreal, but it wasn’t magic.
It was a series of the right conversations, behaviors and a commitment from the leader to stick to it even when they struggled.
To be patient, steadfast, and the one who believed before they did.
Once I refused to blame them for problems with the retail business…
Now, blame may sound harsh, but think about it:
They aren’t motivated…
They don’t want to sound sales-y…
They aren’t consistent…
I didn’t not face those things. I just chose to believe in finding a way to touch the people on my team who weren’t typically “good at selling”.
A 20 year career stylist who had been forced to sell retail by a corporate chain for half of her career who never wanted to touch it again.
A 30+ year stylist who started in the industry before retail existed and still had ladies she did weekly sets on who didn’t even wash their own hair.
Brand new stylists out of cosmetology school.
A longtime stylist who didn’t need to work and didn’t participate in any of the “business” stuff for the first 2 years she worked there.
Those were actual people on the team when I decided to find a different way.
I see owners want more, but the main difference between the ones who make it happen and those who don’t, is simple.
The ones who do, choose to see it through.
Salons that are no better than yours, don’t have easier teams and aren’t anymore special than you.
They just choose to make it happen differently. They choose to lead what they believe is the right move for their business.
You can too.
You can do this on your own like I did or you can use my guide to help get you started. It’s set up to give you and your team exactly what you need to see a boost right away.
From there, it’s just practice.
The guide is to help with retail, but it was created to empower leaders to truly feel effective on this journey.
