Performer Spotlight: Houston Aztec Dance Calmecac Tonantzin Yolilitzyotl Danza Mexica

Experience a rare, living tradition rooted in the heart of Ancient Mexico. This multi-disciplinary performance brings traditional Aztec dance to the stage: ceremonies that have largely remained private in the United States for nearly 50 years!

Through powerful movement, storytelling, drumming, and song, the performers share Indigenous history, philosophy, language, and culture as expressed by Nahuatl-speaking Mexi’ca traditions and other central Mexican nations.
