HCU's Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Kevin Klotz, will be honored in a concert celebrating his tenth anniversary as Artistic Director of the Houston Choral Society! The performance will be held at St. Laurence Catholic Church in Sugar Land this Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Following the concert, we invite you to stay for a special reception honoring Dr. Kevin Klotz and celebrating ten years of music, memories, and community with Houston Choral Society.

Join us for an evening filled with powerful choral music, the premiere of Michael John Trotta’s newly commissioned “Exsultate Justi,” and a chance to celebrate the impact Dr. Klotz has had on singers and audiences over the last ten years.

Whether you’ve sung under his direction, attended concerts through the years, or are joining us for the first time, we’d love to celebrate with you.

We’re excited to introduce Levi Duncan, one of the inspiring leaders at this year’s Houston Christian University All-State Choir Camp!

Duncan has served as Head Choir Director at Alvin High School since 2019. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education (magna cm laude) from Lamar University and an Associate of Science in music (cum laude) from Panola College.

Under his leadership, ensembles have performed at TASB and TCDA conventions and consistently earn UIL Sweepstakes. A five-time MCJROTC Inspirational Educator, Mr. Duncan was the 2023 Alvin HS Teacher of the Year and a Top 5 Alvin ISD Secondary Finalist. In May 2026, he received the prestigious "Pullen Award for Excellence in Music Education" from the Bay Area Chorus. He currently serves as TMEA Area H Vocal Chair and conducts the Clear Lake Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir. Professional affiliations include TMEA, TCDA, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

We’re excited to introduce Frankie Espinoza, one of the inspiring leaders at this year’s Houston Christian University All-State Choir Camp!

Mr. Frankie Espinoza is the Associate Director at Shadow Creek High School and musical director for the all-school musical program. He earned Teacher of the Year in 2017 and Rookie Teacher of the Year in 2015.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Houston on a vocal scholarship. His choirs consistently earn superior ratings at UIL contests, and he is an active clinician and region choir conductor in the Houston area. His Varsity Tenor-Bass Choir was the Celebration of Excellence Honor Choir and an Invited Ensemble at the 2025 TMEA convention. They will perform as the Tenor Bass Celebration of Excellence Honor Choir in 2027. He has served as a region choir organizer, section leader, and on the TMEA All-State resource committee.
As a performer, he has sung with the Houston Chamber Choir, Cantare, Houston Symphony Chorus, and as a staff singer at Christ Church Cathedral.

We’re excited to introduce Deidre Douglas, one of the inspiring leaders at this year’s Houston Christian University All-State Choir Camp!

Deidre Douglas has been a choral educator for over thirty years. She
began her teaching career in middle school and recently retired as a high school director. During that time, she had honor choirs to perform at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention and the national American Choral Directors Association Convention. She had the honor of being named “Spotlight Teacher of the Year” twice in her teaching career. Recently she was honored to receive the Choral Master award from the Texas Choral Directors Association. Mrs. Douglas is a frequent clinician, adjudicator, and consultant throughout Texas and the surrounding states.
