Guess why I’m so stoked… Aside from having coffee because that’s the look I have every time I drink a cup of coffee in the morning. Today I recorded the first episode of the podcast I am now proud to be a part of!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I basically talked about myself for an hour, and told my origin story. I touched on everything from my mom using hypnosis, signs from the universe in the form of sheep, and what I want to be when I grow up.
I would listen to it!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A few weeks ago when I was really gearing up to do the Glow Emporium podcast my friend and colleague through Beautycounter, messaged me and asked me if I would be up for joining her podcast as her cohost! Her current cohost was Moving on and Liz was looking for somebody with her similar passion and drive ( )... oh hey that’s me! 🤚🏽
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So today we took the first big step and hit record. We are still looking for the right name, getting our logo and branding together and finding our flow but I feel so good about what we’re creating.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The podcast is currently called Beyond Birth and Liz has almost 60 episodes of great content for new parents.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What SHE ( my pet name for the pod) will become is is still being solidified but I can tell you it will represent both of the brands we are creating and the work we are doing and will serve you in all the ways.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So help us out with the name and tell me three words that come to mind when you think of the glow emporium 👇🏽👇🏽🙏🏽👇🏽

Question: would you smear something on your under arm if you knew it would give you breast cancer? What about if it was linked to infertility (not a method of birth control btw)? How about cancer? Yeah, me either.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But....
I still don't want stinky pits and I am guessing you don't either. I have tried LOTS of natural deodorants and some work for a while, some don't even try. But in the long run, they stop being effective (ie: swamp pits)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That is, until I found Primally Pure's deodorant. Ryan and I have both been using our preferred types for over a year and we are still in love! He is into the charcoal and I love the lavender. I use the little baby blue tansy (swipe to see) for travel (er, I guess when I used to travel) and it's also the perfect size for a purse, for those uh-oh mom brain moments, when I’m out but realize I haven't put on deodorant in a while.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My only real critique is that it will leave white spots on a dark shirt if you don't give it a few minutes to soak in, but that is not enough of a deodorant deterrent for me. As you can see here, I am confidently putting on my lavender deo while wearing a black tank.... so it's not that big of a deal. I would rather not stink or get cancer.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So here is the really good Must Have Monday news if you are in the market for some clean deo for your BO... you can sign up for a deodorant subscription and get half off the first tube plus free shipping! On top of that, if your are a first time Primally Pure customer, I have a 10% code for you to use on your whole order. Use GLOW10 for 10% and bump your clean beauty game up a notch. Shop Primally Pure in the Emporium via the link in my bio.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For my Beautycounter loyalists.... never fear, I have something for your pits coming your way in a few weeks.

What a dream yesterday was! I spent the day with my bestie out on a mountain lake on a stand up paddleboard. I got sunburned, I laughed my butt off, I chilled, repaired my nervous system and fed my soul.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We talked in depth about how it’s so easy to get stuck in the day-to-day and forget that rest is important. That play is important. That nurturing our individual self is important.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Things that we used to make daily practice seem so complex to do now, like get out into nature and play. I mean, we used to live in matching tents in the mountains for months together. Now it takes us months to just get out for an afternoon together.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But we managed to do it and honestly it’s one of the best days I’ve had in a while.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So if something is holding you back from getting out of your comfort zone and into your happy place… Safely because we are still in a pandemic..... then let this encourage you to get into your happy place and nourish your Being.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Happy 🌞day

Yeah life with COVID-19 is weird for us… But it’s some thing wholly different for Frontline medical professionals.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Brenna and I will meet you here on IG live this Wednesday. We will also be on zoom and it will be recorded. DM me now if you want to join on zoom or be on the list to receive the recording.

So start gathering up your nominations for those people who are working hard to keep us safe. And if you want to get a Head start, go on over and follow .unfolding and
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A little about Brenna: we have been friends for over a decade. She was one of the few people I invited to stand by my side when I got married. She is a mother of two boys and owner and creator of Brenna currently resides in York England where she works long shifts in an ICU trying to save peoples lives. She is an incredible human and we are very fortunate to be receiving her time.

It’s world breast-feeding week and though I am a strong advocate for breast-feeding, my experience with nursing was extremely challenging.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I did not make enough milk. As you see here I couldn’t even figure out how to use the nursing pillow. We were co-sleeping and I didn’t sleep for 14 months… that’s not an exaggeration. I didn’t sleep for longer than two hours at a time for 14 months. Fox cluster fed and wanted to nurse every 2 hours for 14 months.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I didn’t know what a lactation consult was or how to search for quality formula. It was a devastating process for me. I wanted to stop but I felt like I was letting down my ancestors and my community of WOMXN around the world working to make birth and parenthood empowering. I also felt like I was letting him down if I didn’t feed him from my body.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As a childbirth educator, a Doula, A feminist and a mom I want you to know that no matter your experience in fertility, birthing, parenting and even breast-feeding… Make it the experience that you and your family need. Don’t do it because Pinterest says so. Don’t do it because Instagram says so. Don’t do it because your mom or your community says so. If you want to breast-feed then hell yeah. If you want to bottle feed then hell yeah. If you don’t know what you wanna do or nature has a different plan for you, that’s all good too but make sure to find help if you need it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
How you feed your baby you should be empowering because it’s how YOU and your baby choose to do so.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Happy world breastfeeding/ chest feeding week 🤱🏽

I have been practicing yoga for nearly half of my life… 18 years to be exact. I don’t always have a daily practice, In fact I rarely do. But yoga, I am pretty sure, saved my life. A few times.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I first found kundalini yoga the year that my mom committed su***de. I was given a VHS of a teacher named and did it every day. Not because somebody told me to do it but because it felt right.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The second time I am pretty sure that yoga save my life, was after I had a miscarriage and split from a man I was going to marry. I was a broken wreck laying on my living room floor and the Univers called and asked if I was going to sign up for the kundalini teacher training I had been thinking about for over five years.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So I went for it. It was my therapy. I was extremely broke and broken. So I did A LOT of yoga.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I worked through the fog and pain of loss with yoga. I worked through the recovery of a broken coccyx with yoga. I am working through the nervous system overload that is 2020 with yoga.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Yoga is a powerful tool. Each lineage has its strengths... and weaknesses if I’m being real. But those strengths are your tools to use. If you have lies that you are telling yourself about your ability to practice yoga, you got a let that s**t go. If you have a body then you have a yoga body.

Welcome to
Every Monday we will be highlighting a product we love that you can find in our Emporium at theglowEmporium.com
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I think every Glow Writer will agree with me on this, but one of the most important products we love, arguably more than deodorant, is sun block. The Countersun line from Beautycounter is a particular favorite of ours. It’s a non-nano zinc oxide-based sun protectant which means it’s environmentally safe and also safe for you. It goes on clean, doesn’t leave a white sheen and offers long lasting protection.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A few things to note about sunscreen to help you be a more informed consumer
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌞 You want a sunblock that is mineral-based. Most Chemical-based sunscreens contain known carcinogens and a single drop in an Olympic sized swimming pool can begin to bleach coral reefs 😳
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌞 The higher the number does not necessarily equal deeper coverage. After about 30 SPF it’s essentially a marketing ploy
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌞 Chemical-based sunscreens tend to block UVA rays. These are the rays that activate the body’s defenses to say it’s had enough vitamin D. That signal produces red and inflamed skin a.k.a. a sunburn. So when your body‘s defense to tell you that it’s had enough sun is taken away, it puts your skin in danger. Chemical sunscreens tend to let harmful UVB rays through undetected by your body‘s defense mechanisms. Mineral-based sunscreen’s like zinc oxide block out UVA and UVB rays.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Whether you buy beautycounter or another mineral-based sunblock, know what you were putting on your skin. Be an informed consumer and vote with your dollars

Happy birthday to this little party animal! Of all the things I could say here, I think I will just quote the lullaby written by (Thank you Siri, endlessly thank you) for Fox that we still sing every night.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Hey little Fox it's time to sleep
Close you eyes and dream so sweet
Your toes are small but they'll go far
For you I wish upon a star
You are loved
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Morning comes so soon
Listen to the crickets as their howling at the moon
I wonder how the world looks through eyes so new
You're at the very start
This lullaby is for you
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The first time I heard it was the morning after he came earth side. He was snuggled up with his dad in a tiny bed and I listened to this song, tears streaming as I stared at his little cone head amazed at what he and I had just done. Bringing a human onto this planet is no easy task, but Fox, Ryan and I were the perfect team, and still are.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Happy birthday little Foxy Strand!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You are so loved.
I couldn’t find the picture I took from the moment described above so I just posted a bunch of other quality moments ❤️🦊

I’ve been witnessing something interesting happening over the last 6 months. For those of you who have been around here for a while you know how I feel about tracking my menstrual cycle. It started as a way to boost productivity while having more downtime but one of the things I started to realize when I was evaluating my cycle during the winter is that it went down to 24 days and I was bleeding on the new moon. I typically bleed on a full moon so I started paying more attention. Over the last six months I’ve been tracking my cycle pretty thoroughly including my productivity, energy output, dreams and sleep, appetite, exercise, and even bowel movements. It’s been extremely informative and I highly recommend it. Now in the height of summer I am at a 26 day cycle and bleeding on a full moon.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I feel more in balance when I bleed around a full moon. My dreams tend to be heightened when I’m ovulating and when there’s a full moon. So when I am ovulating on the full moon I don’t sleep very well. Things get kind of weird. But when things are swapped and I am bleeding on a full Moon I feel more grounded during an otherwise energetically wild time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So this poses a question for me (actually many but I only have so many characters) Is this a normal fluctuation for me and my body? Or is it because I started paying more attention and listening to my body’s needs on a much deeper level that my period Seemed to regulate itself. I don’t have an answer for you yet but I’m gonna keep paying attention and will report back.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Question for you: are you tracking your cycle? If you are not A bleeder, have you ever tracked your body rhythms in relation to lunar rhythms?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Above is an almost full moon I photographed on my bike ride last night ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
