CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS! The Center for Engineering Leadership offers a myriad of ways this Fall (virtual and in-person) for professionals of all types to share their insights and experience with some of Rice's best and most ambitious students. PLEASE CONSIDER being a guest observer in one of our leadership labs; sharing career advice about your professional field; being a guest speaker in one of our electives; or taking part in a practical career skills workshops. Each of these is a compact (~1-2 hours) but richly rewarding opportunity, and I know from experience that our volunteers get every bit as much out of it as the students do.

All the details for Fall 2025 are at https://forms.gle/pTneNXEsKKtx5atr6. Sign up for all that interest you, and don't be shy about sharing the link with your friends and co-workers as well -- as RCEL continues to grow, we need more volunteers than ever!

Thank you, and we hope to see you this semester!

CALL FOR EXPERTISE: In late February, a team of two students will represent Rice at the national Ethics in Engineering Case Competition. This year’s case problem involves a hypothetical NASA system that would use satellite-deployed infrared telescopes and AI image analysis to detect and assess potentially dangerous Near-Earth Objects that elude existing detection systems.

If you have expertise that can help the Rice team prepare, we would love 30-60 minutes of your time. Subjects of particular interest include orbital geometry, infrared imaging, satellite communication, AI image analysis, and NASA contracting.

If you can help, please contact George Webb, RCEL Industry Relations Director, at (713) 348-2704 or [email protected]. Thank you for your support!
