There’s a part I “filmed” but realized after the fact that it was not saved because my phone overheated and stopped recording. 🤦‍♀️

That is, HOW do I motivate them to do their regular chores?

We are NOT a no-screen family 😅 Both of my daughters have tablets. They don’t get to watch them during the school week, but on the weekends they can - so long as their chores are done. 1 day is laundry, and the other is their room. If they don’t get it done, they can’t use their tablet. Simple as that.

If they decide to not do chores all day Saturday, and leave it all for Sunday. I let them. But they also do not have access to screens until both tasks are complete the next day. It’s still a win for me because it keeps them off the tablet an extra day 🙃

Allowance is tied to school, that is their “job.” And while I know that they still HAVE to go to school, it’s much easier to explain that concept because mom and dad also go to work during their school hours and we get paid for it.

What are your thoughts on paying for chores (respectfully)? 👀

2026 Contribution Limits are different!

Employer sponsored accounts max = $24,500

IRA Max = $7,500
If over 50 = $8,600

Could I just contribute all of the money I can into my 401k? Yes!

Why don’t I do that? ✨control✨ I want to have as much control of my investments as possible, and that is with an IRA. But if you want to make it easy and only invest in your 401k, that is completely fine! Especially if your 401k has a Roth option.

👉INVESTING as much as you can is the ultimate goal!

Check out Lesson 6 if this didn’t make sense 😅

And also, I am NOT a Financial Advisor - this is NOT investment advice. It is just for educational purposes AND I will never DM you to invest with me. 👈❗️

First full week back to school = back to their regular “job.” 🎒💵

I knew early on that I wouldn’t pay my kids for chores, but I absolutely wanted to teach them financial literacy! As soon as my oldest started school, it clicked for me.

THIS is where I need a big part of their energy and focus to go, so why not pay them for that effort?

It gave them an age-appropriate way to understand that money is earned, while giving me the opportunity to teach them what to actually DO with that money once it hits their hands.

And years later, it’s still what works for our family!

Do you tie allowance to anything in your house? 👇

Oops 🫢 Here we go again!

I am by no means a proponent of *always* buying new. Especially with the current interest rates 🫠 (both my husband and I have credit scores of 800+).

But we prepared in advance, knew exactly what we were getting into, and had a plan of action to get rid of the debt asap. We did not make this decision on a whim. 🙂‍↔️

Shout out to Community Toyota for making the process so smooth! ❤️ If you’re in the Houston area, they are in Baytown but worth adding them to your list of dealerships to check out.

My 9 year old thinks investing is cool, I think I’m doing alright! 😎

That Post-it note is all I used to guide her this time. 💚

Lesson 6: Retirement Investment Accounts

I’ll cover what I have as an example + some extra details in Lesson 6.5.

This is only a 3 MINUTE video, there is no way I can cover all the details/nuances that have to do with retirement accounts in one video, please take that into consideration.

And also, I am NOT a Financial Advisor - this is NOT investment advice. It is just for educational purposes AND I will never DM you to invest with me. 👈❗️

✨Investing Lesson will be the next video✨

A couple of things some might not agree with, and are totally open to doing differently with your children 😉

1️⃣ “Encouraging” her to put more towards spending instead of keeping it in savings. Part of it comes down to trust, if she knows I have her best interest even when it comes to a video game, then I’m building the trust for when I advice her on saving & investing for other things. The goal is for her to take my guidance, because she trusts me. 💕

2️⃣ Charity. I will never force it or make her feel bad about not giving it. As mentioned here, there are multiple ways to be charitable. My goal is to raise kind humans who are helpers in every sense of the word. Giving money does not automatically make you a kind human 🙃

The foundation of C.A.S.H. budgeting:
💵 put some in spending (store spending)
💵 put some in savings for big ticket items (delayed gratification)
💵 put some to Invest for BIGGER ticket event/items that you have TIME until it is needed (5+ years).
💵 Remember cash is dirty and you need to wash your hands after managing it 🙂‍↕️

C.A.S.H. Is also the framework that my Allowance Binder follows (Compensate, Allocate, Strengthen, Handle) 😉 Comment “Binder” if you want further details. 💚

Key takeaway: Focus on ONE debt at a time!

That is the MAIN strategy that helped me pay off $114,000 of debt. The order in which you want to pay it off is not as important as you ✨think✨

Yes, there is mathematically a “better” way, but I’m here to remind you that your debt free journey is YOURS. Do what helps you get through it best! 😉🫶

If you’d like to be part of my *first* LIVE program, with more personalized help, doors to MONEY SCHOOL FOR PARENTS close on Friday 7/31. Comment “SCHOOL” for the link with more info. 💚
